Vande Bharat trains will be cleaned in 14 minutes from Oct 1

The Indian Railway is set to introduce a new concept called '14 minutes of miracle' for speedy train cleaning. The initiative will begin on October 1 and will initially be implemented on 29 Vande Bharat trains at their respective destination stations across the country. The formal launch will take place at the Delhi Cantt. Railway Station and will be conducted by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

Under this new concept, the Vande Bharat trains will be cleaned within 14 minutes, aiming to improve their punctuality and turnaround time. This is the first time such a concept is being introduced on Indian railways. The idea is based on the '7 minutes of miracle' concept observed in stations like Osaka and Tokyo in Japan, where bullet trains are cleaned and prepared for the next journey within seven minutes.

The implementation of this service has been made possible by enhancing the efficiency, skills, and working attitude of the cleaning staff without increasing the number of frontline workers already engaged in this activity. Apart from Delhi Cantt, the concept will also be implemented at stations like Varanasi, Gandhinagar, Mysore, and Nagpur, depending on the arrival timings of the Vande Bharat trains.

Before the official launch, the railroads conducted a couple of dry runs to test the concept. Initially, the train was cleaned in around 28 minutes, which was later improved to 18 minutes. Now, with the new concept, the cleaning process will be completed within just 14 minutes, without the need for any new technology. The plan is to gradually apply this concept to other trains as well, starting with Vande Bharat, which is expected to have a significant impact.
