According to the Botanical Survey of India's most recent publication, more than a third of the rhododendron species found in India are found in the Darjeeling and Sikkim Himalayas (BSI). 44 of the 45 taxa listed in the publication are found in the Sikkim Himalaya, and 24 are found in the Darjeeling Himalaya.
