Malaysia joins the list of countries granting Visa-Free entry to Indians

Malaysia soon to be on the must visit countries list of many Indians in this Winter season. Malaysia, after Thailand, joins the growing list of countries offering visa-free access to Indian passport holders, allowing visitors to visit the country for a specific period. 

Malaysia has decided to grant visa-free entry to citizens of China and India for stays of up to 30 days starting on December 1, although visitors will still undergo security screening. Currently, the Malaysian tourist e-visa for Indians is priced at INR 3,799 per person. Plan accordingly for your travel arrangements!

On a late Sunday, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim shared the exciting news during his People's Justice Party congress. Malaysia's Home Affairs Ministry affirmed the visa exemptions, stating that they will be in effect until December 31, 2024.

China and India are Malaysia's fourth- and fifth-largest sources of tourists. In the first half of this year, Malaysia welcomed a total of 9.16 million tourists, with 498,540 arriving from China and 283,885 from India, as reported by government data. However, In 2019, before the pandemic, Malaysia received 1.5 million tourists from China and 354,486 from India. 

Beyond tourism, Malaysia is also eyeing increased investments from these countries. The visa free entry process will ensure a seamless travel experience for visitors, contributing to Malaysia's appeal as one of the premier tourist destinations in Asia.

In line with the trend, other Asian countries are also adopting similar measures. China recently declared visa-free entry starting next month for citizens of Malaysia and several European countries. Meanwhile, Thailand, highly dependent on its tourism sector, removed visa requirements for Chinese and Indian citizens on November 10, offering a 30-day stay for tourists. This policy will remain in effect until May 10, 2024. 

Many Asian countries are also adopting these visa free access to Indian citizens

As per the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India's official website, Indians enjoy visa-free entry to various countries such as Barbados, Bhutan, Dominican Republic, Fiji, Haiti, Hong Kong SAR, Kazakhstan, Maldives, Nepal, Niue Island, Qatar, Sant Vincent and the Grenadines, Senegal, Sri Lanka, St. Lucia, and The Cook Islands.
