In an attempt to boost tourism arrivals and attract more visitors from countries around the world, Iran gives visa-free access to India and 32 other countries
According to Ezzatollah Zarghami, Iran's Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts, the Iranian Cabinet has unilaterally decided to waive the need for Indian tourists to have a visa. Iran voted on Wednesday to remove the need for visas for 33 nations.
According to reporters during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Zarghami stated that the goal of the move is to increase tourism arrivals and draw in more travelers from around the globe. He asserted that initiatives to increase travel can counteract anti-Iranian propaganda.
Vietnam, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka have recently eliminated the need for visas for Indian tourists. According to a recent McKinsey report, India has one of the fastest-expanding markets for outbound tourism, with 13 million Indian visitors expected to travel abroad by 2022.
The following 33 nations have been granted permission to use Iran's new visa-waiver program:
India, Russia, UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Mauritius, Seychelles, Indonesia, Darussalam, Japan, Singapore, Cambodia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Brazil, Peru, Cuba, Mexico, Venezuela, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia, and Belarus.
