Cirium, an analytical firm focused on aviation, recently announced that Hyderabad GMR International Airport has been recognized as the most punctual airport globally. According to the report, Hyderabad airport recorded an impressive on-time performance (OTP) of 90.43% in March 2023, making it the only airport worldwide to cross the 90% mark. Cirium based its analysis on data gathered from over 5 million flights worldwide in March.
Hyderabad Airport secured the top spot in both the 'Global Airports' and 'Large Airports' categories, which is significant as it had only been ranked fourth in the latter category in 2022. Pradeep Panicker, CEO of GMR Hyderabad International Airport, credited this accomplishment to the airport's implementation of cutting-edge technological innovations and the development of world-class infrastructure to optimize performance.
Since its inception, GMR Hyderabad International Airport has introduced several pioneering technological advancements in the Indian airport sector. It was the first airport to introduce an integrated and centralized Airport Operations Control Center (AOCC), advanced passenger information systems, and other technological initiatives. The airport's streamlined processes and operational procedures, such as Express Security check-in, Self Check-in kiosks, E-Boarding, and video analytics, ensure OTP for its airline partners.
The recognition of Hyderabad airport as the world's most punctual airport is a testament to its dedication to providing a smooth and efficient experience for its passengers. Furthermore, it reinforces India's status as a country with top-notch infrastructure and technological advancements in the aviation industry.
