China will Begin Issuing all Types of Visas for Foreign Travelers

Starting on Wednesday, for the first time in three years since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, China will allow all categories of visas to be issued.

Since officials gained the upper hand against the virus last month, this final cross-border restriction measure set to protect against COVID-19 has been lifted. Professionals in the tourism sector do not expect a substantial increase in tourism or an immediate benefit to the economy. Just 0.9% of China's GDP was made up of revenue from international tourism in 2019.

Visa-free entrance will once again be available in parts of China that did not require them before the pandemic, the foreign ministry announced on Tuesday. This will cover cruise ships going through Shanghai port as well as the southern vacation island of Hainan, a longtime favorite of Russians.
