YouTube is said to be testing a novel feature within its Android app, allowing users to search for songs by humming or recording them for more than three seconds. Currently in a trial phase with a chosen group of users, the "song search" capability can be accessed via the YouTube app's "voice search" function. Upon successful song recognition, the app presents a range of content including official music tracks, user-generated videos, and Shorts. This feature leverages the same technology as Google Search's "Hum to Search" feature; however, YouTube's version is speedier, demanding just three seconds of audio input.
In a recent update, the platform has revealed its plans to initiate testing of a fresh app feature designed for Android devices. This innovative feature will empower users to search for a song by either humming it or recording it for a duration exceeding three seconds.
This functionality is presently available to a select set of users. If your account falls within this fortunate group, you can switch from using the "voice search" function in the YouTube app to a newly introduced "song search" alternative. After you've hummed or recorded the preferred song and it has been recognized, the application will showcase pertinent content, encompassing "official music content, user-generated videos, and Shorts."
