Your next iPhone on launch day might be 'Made in India'

Apple is prepared to provide Made-in-India iPhones for the first time on launch day. There is a possibility that the new iPhone model consumers will purchase on launch day was manufactured in India.

According to sources cited by Bloomberg, Apple Inc. intends to release the iPhone 15, which is currently being produced in India, in the South Asian nation. All other phones, excluding the iPhones built in India, will be imported from China.

Tuesday's highly anticipated event at Apple's US headquarters is scheduled to unveil the iPhone 15 and updated watches and AirPods. Sales of new products typically start about 10 days after their introduction.

Sales of iPhones created in-country will emphasize India's expanding production capacity and Apple's departure from its prior policy of offering smartphones made in China to its customers all over the world.

The Apple iPhone 15 will be on sale on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. (California time). At a factory owned by supplier Foxconn Technology Group in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, its production got underway last month. The action is viewed as Apple's attempt to put its China+1 plan into action. The iPhone manufacturer is making an effort to close the gap between its operations in India and its primary manufacturing facilities in China.

The iPhone 15 is significant since it is anticipated to be the biggest update to the handset in three years. The phone will be updated with the most recent features, including a camera system. The 3-nanometer processor for the Pro versions will be enhanced.

However, due to unforeseen logistics difficulties, there may be modest delays with India-built devices, according to Bloomberg. Apple has not yet issued an official denial of the reports.

The timeline for the assembly of iPhone 14 units in India fell behind those in China by almost nine months. The gap, nevertheless, was drastically narrowed to just a few weeks in 2022. By the end of March, 7% of Apple's total production of iPhones was produced in India.

Apple is working to lessen its reliance on China and diversify its production base. The Indian government's financial incentives for manufacturers turned out to be a big draw for the iPhone producer. India currently plays a significant part in Apple's effort to diversify.

To boost sagging sales, the new lineup is essential. Apple announced a third consecutive quarter of falling revenue in August, hampered by sluggish customer demand in significant regions like the US, China, and Europe.

The iPhone 15 will likely soon be put together by two additional Apple suppliers in India, Pegatron Corp. and a Wistron Corp. facility that the Tata Group will shortly buy.
