Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone brand, is set to bid farewell to its long-running MIUI software and introduce a new operating system called HyperOS. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun announced the arrival of HyperOS on social media, stating that it will make its official debut on the Xiaomi 14 series of phones. Not much is known about HyperOS at this point, but Jun mentioned that it is based on the integration of Android and the self-developed Vela system, with a focus on preparing a public base for the Internet of Everything. HyperOS will be available across all Xiaomi devices, not just smartphones.
The Xiaomi 14 series, which will mark the debut of HyperOS, is expected to consist of two models: the Xiaomi 14 and the Xiaomi 14 Pro. While the exact launch date is unknown, reports suggest that the phones will be unveiled shortly after the launch of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor on October 24. There is speculation that the phones may launch before November 11, which is an important shopping season in China known as Single's Day.
The Xiaomi 14 is rumoured to have a 6.4-inch screen, while the Xiaomi 14 Pro is expected to have a larger 6.7-inch screen. Both phones will feature a resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels and a punch-hole notch design. They are also said to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, although these details are still unconfirmed. It is rumoured that both phones will have a variant with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with no 128GB variant being released.
It's important to keep in mind that all of this information is based on rumors, and Xiaomi hasn't yet released any official information about the Xiaomi 14 series or HyperOS. Fans will have to wait for an official announcement to learn more about the launch date, specifications, and features of the devices.
