What is happening in OpenAI? How many CEOs will they go through in a week?

The emergence of AI, especially ChatGPT took the world by storm when it was made available to the common folk in the latter half of 2022, the wave hasn't quite subsided and continues to surprise the users with one thing or another. In the latest development of the OpenAI conundrum, the recent sacking of CEO Sam Altman has been the talk of the town right at the centre of Silicon Valley.

Interim CEO Mira Murati replaced Sam Atlman and then she was replaced by Twitch co-founder Emmett Shear, which truly makes one wonder how many CEOs can OpenAI go through in just a week.

It is imperative to understand that OpenAI started out as a non-profit but now with mega giants like Microsoft chipping in and planning to take over the model completely poses a threat to the falling of OpenAI as an entity altogether.

The underlying issue here goes deeper than corporate drama, in this dog eats dog world one needs to realize that the shenanigans at OpenAI hint at how the privatisation of revolutionary technology such as Artificial Intelligence and groundbreaking models such as ChatGPT handed over to the industry giants can hamper further innovation and creativity in the industry.

The fact that almost all the employees of Open AI threatened to take the Exodus way if Altman was not reinstated acts as a testament to how important it is to keep creative minds in power over capitalist lords.

Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither would AI transform the world just yet but it is necessary to dive deeper and form a better understanding of what it means to create cutting-edge products which aid in technological developments of the future and not let the greed of money minting schemes come in the way.
