Tinder 'Add matchmaking' feature allowing friends and family to recommend matches

Tinder, the widely-used online dating platform, has recently launched a new feature called 'Matchmaker' in various countries, including India. This groundbreaking addition enables users to engage their loved ones, such as family and friends, in their dating experience by requesting their input on potential matches.

Melissa Hobley, Tinder's Chief Marketing Officer, kindly stated that over the years, singles have often relied on the assistance of their friends to find their perfect match on Tinder. The Matchmaker feature simplifies this process by incorporating the user's trusted circle into their dating experience, enabling them to view potential matches through the lens of those closest to them.

The idea of Tinder Matchmaker is based on a survey conducted by the company, which discovered that a significant number of singles often share their dating experiences with their friends. In India, the data indicates that a considerable percentage of users have swiped on behalf of their friends, and many have received assistance from a friend while swiping. Moreover, a significant proportion of young singles in India have utilized a dating app while having a friend browse through their profiles together.

The process of using Tinder Matchmaker is quite simple and easy. Currently, it is available in 15 countries and there are plans to launch it globally soon. These countries include Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, the UK, the USA, and Vietnam.

To take advantage of this feature:

1. Start a session from a profile card or in the app settings.
2. Share your “unique link” with up to 15 people within a 24-hour window.
3. The matchmaker can follow the link and either log in to Tinder or continue as a guest.
4. The matchmaker then has 24 hours to recommend profiles to his friend. However, you cannot join chats or send messages on the friend's behalf.
5. Once the session ends, the Tinder user can check the recommended profiles.
6. Profiles that have “liked” a matchmaker are marked as “recommendation”.
7. Ultimately, the final decision rests with the user.

This new feature allows users to engage their trusted circle in their dating experience, which could potentially result in more meaningful connections. It provides a new perspective and expands the range of possibilities in finding the perfect match.
