Musk's attorney, Alex Spiro, requested an audit of Microsoft's (MSFT.O) usage of Twitter material in a letter to the company's CEO, Satya Nadella, in May. Spiro claimed that the Windows developer had broken the terms of the contract governing the use of Twitter data.

In order to increase subscription revenue, the firm has implemented a number of initiatives, like adding verification checkmarks to the Twitter Blue programme, to entice back advertisers that deserted the site under Musk's control.
