The upcoming homegrown Electric Vehicle producer, Ola Electric, is reported to have crossed the production of 1,00,000 vehicles in November 2022. The company now aims to amass 10 lakh vehicle units by November 2023.
This was conveyed, as things usually are, in the form of a tweet by founder, Bhavish Aggarwal. “Our cumulative production numbers: Dec 2021: 0; Nov 2022: 1,00,000; Nov 2023: 10,00,000; Nov 2024: 1,00,00,000. This is the journey to #EndICEAge by 2025”, he said on Friday.
Aggarwal followed this with a promise to his customers- delivery within the next 2-3 days. He tweeted: "Starting next week, we will deliver to customers across India the same day or within 2-3 days. The exact days depend on the time it takes to register in your specific city."
The tweeted statistics might not come as a shock to those who know that Ola Future Factory is claimed to be the world’s largest two-wheeler factory. The facility, which was set up in 2021, spreads across 500 acres of land in the district of Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu.
The company claims that its current capacity of production is 20 lakhs per annum, which puts the goal of 10 lakhs in perspective. This capacity will be exhausted in six to eight months, according to Ola Electric. When the facility in Krishnagiri is fully completed, it will host the potential to produce 1 crore electric two-wheelers.
The Ola future Factory has had a consistently good performance in the year 2022, as seen by the 20,000 sales raked in during the month of October, riding off the success of the festive season. Ola Electric is currently selling the models S1 and S1 Pro. The brand-new Ola S1 Air will be hitting the shelves in February 2023. These scooters will start making their way to customers by April 2023.
Ola Electric seems to be taking a long winding gradual turn into its future with its foray into electric motorcycles, and according to Aggarwal, electric cars by the year 2024.
