On July 7, the Law Commission issued a warning to the public about phoney WhatsApp messages and calls purporting to be from it the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). People were admonished to "exercise caution" and rely on legitimate sources of information, such as its website, for truthful information. The law panel made reference to "certain WhatsApp texts, calls, and messages" that were being sent about regarding the UCC in its disclaimer. "I have seen that certain phone numbers are being circulated and are falsely stated to be associated with the Law Commission of India.
It is made clear that the Law Commission has no participation with these texts, calls, or communications and disclaims any liability or support for them, the statement said. According to the Law Commission, it communicates via established channels, such as the Press Information Bureau and its website. Individuals are urged to access the public notice (for views on UCC) published in this respect by going to the Law Commission of India's official website, it added. Up until recently, the panel had gotten 19 lakh answers to its June 14 public notice. Responses can be sent until July 13.
