Sources claim that the Tata Group recently purchased the Narasapura factory outside of Bengaluru from the Taiwanese firm Wistron in order to begin producing Apple's iPhone in India. After visiting Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran in Mumbai in April on his visit to India, Apple CEO Tim Cook made this decision.
They talked about the partnership's short- and long-term goals as well as the Tata Group's ambitions for producing electronics. Wistron has reportedly opted to quit the Apple operations in Bangalore in order to focus on other companies, while it is still unclear whether the company would completely depart those activities. At the Wistron facility in Bangalore, several Tata executives have already started working and receiving operational and procedural training.
As Apple looks to establish a sizable production base outside of China, the Indian government was instrumental in pushing the corporation to grow its manufacturing ecosystem in India and work with reputable Indian companies on key projects like manufacturing. A thorough questionnaire has received no responses from Apple or Tata.
