In August, Google said it would stop providing "Drive for Desktop" support for Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012, and all 32-bit versions of Windows. Google advised Windows users to update to Windows 10 (64-bit) or higher before August 2023 to prevent service interruptions.
In addition, the company stated that browser-based access to Google Drive is still available to Windows 32-bit customers. The business had set a limit on the volume of files that customers may create and save in Google Drive as of April this year. The number of files that one user can now create in Drive is five million.
Ross Richendrfer, a Google spokesman, said that this modification intends to "maintain strong performance and reliability" and will help in preventing "misuse" of the business's systems. In the meantime, the company announced a "search chips" tool for Drive that lets users filter anywhere in the web app by parameters including file type, owner, and last edited date.
