The Central government has outlawed 14 mobile messaging apps that terror groups in Jammu and Kashmir were using to communicate with their Pakistani handlers in a major effort to combat terrorist activities.
Among the banned applications that posed a threat to national security are Crypviser, Enigma, Safeswiss, Wickrme, Mediafire, Briar, BChat, Nandbox, Conion, IMO, Element, Second Line, Zangi, and Threema.
According to a source quoted by a news agency, "While finding fear-monger correspondences, the security organizations found that a portion of the versatile applications don't have delegates in India and it is difficult to find exercises occurring on the application."
A list of these apps that violate Indian law and pose a threat to national security was compiled by intelligence agencies. The list was sent to the Center, where the relevant Ministry ordered the 14 apps to be blocked in accordance with Section 69A of the Information Technology Act of 2000.
