Tamil Nadu has engraved its name in the book of cricket. On the 21st of November, Tamil Nadu became the first team to score 500+ runs in a one day or 50 overs match.
The match was against Arunachal Pradesh where Tamil Nadu ended up scoring 506 runs for 2 wickets. The star of the match was Narayan Jagadeesanwho scored 277 runs in 141 balls which consisted of 25-4s and 15-6s.
Becoming the first team to score 500 runs wasn't the only brilliant achievement from the tamil nadu team. In fact Jagadeesan broke Surrey batter Alistair Brown’s record of 268 by scoring the highest individual runs in List A cricket.
The match on the 21st also gave us a record breaking partnership, as Jagadeesan and Sai Sudarshan also became the first pair to share 400 plus runs partnership in List-A cricket. With Narayan Jagadeesan scoring 277 runs and Sai Sudarshan scoring 154 runs the duo scored a total of 416 runs in just 38.3 overs.
Narayan Jagadeesan definitely had an amazing match as he scored his 5th consecutive century, breaking yet another record of the most consecutive centuries in A-list cricket. When asked about his record breaking performance, the Tamil Nadu player said that he had no idea that he was breaking records while he was playing, and found out when he came off the field. He also said that his main focus is on playing good shots.
This amazing performance is the perfect example of why Jagadeesan is the leading run-scorer in the Vijay Hazare Trophy so far. He has scored 624 runs in 6 matches with a mindblowing average of 156.00. And this is just the start for the record breaking batter.
