The inaugural Paralympic Games in Paris are set to take place, starting with a magnificent Opening Ceremony in the heart of the French capital. On Saturday, August 24, the flame was started in Stoke Mandeville, the site of the first Paralympic Games. Wheelchair fencing medallist Emmanuelle Assmann was one of its bearers as it landed in France on Sunday after passing through the Channel Tunnel.
