Pakistan's Babar Azam-led team travels to India for the 2023 ODI World Cup

The men's cricket team from Pakistan will visit India for the 2023 ODI World Cup, the country's ministry of foreign affairs announced on Sunday. The foreign ministry claimed in a statement that "bilateral relations" with India wouldn't interfere with Pakistan cricket's obligations abroad.

Politics and sports should not be mixed, as Pakistan has adamantly maintained. It has chosen to send its cricket team to India as a result, according to a statement from the foreign ministry, in order to participate in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup.Pakistan believes that the state of its bilateral relations with India shouldn't prevent it from carrying out its obligations under international sports agreements.

The ODI World Cup comes after the Asia Cup, which Pakistan was presumptively going to host. Due to the BCCI's refusal to send the Indian team, all of India's games were planned in Sri Lanka, one of the continental tournament's co-hosts. The foreign ministry's statement reminded India of the deed.

In response to India's implacable stance, which prevented it from sending its cricket team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, Pakistan's move "shows its constructive and responsible approach," the statement said.

Pakistani officials have inspected security at World Cup venues in recent weeks. Pakistan's men's squad won't visit India until after the 2016 T20 World Cup. Pakistan played their last bilateral series between December 2012 and January 2013, which was also the last series between the two nations. Since then, only international (World Cup, Champions Trophy) and continental (Asia Cup) competitions have pitted both nations against each other.

India and Pakistan are in "Group A" of the Asia Cup and may play each other three times. Security concerns may delay the October 15 World Cup match in Ahmedabad.
