The FIFA World Cup of 2022, which has been a dream for many superstars, is about to come to an end. Earlier in the tournament, we have seen many big names, such as Luis Suarez from Uruguay, Robert Lewandowski from Poland, and the latest addition to the mix, Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo, all go back home without fully fulfilling their dreams.
Last night's FIFA World Cup runner-up, Croatia, will face South American champions Argentina today. Croatia's last tournament fell short to France, and they were in tears as they came one short of becoming World champions.
However, through the recent events of the tournament, it has seemed that luck has been on the side of Luka Modric and his men. Luka Modric, who was the winner of the golden ball in the last FIFA world cup in 2018, which was taking place in Russia, is a Real Madrid and Croatia legend, and just like all the other big names at the top, he is also likely to be playing in his last world cup.
Modric and his men will be looking to do one better than last year by reaching the final again and potentially winning it.
Meanwhile, on the other side is a very motivated and in red-hot form Argentina team, who have looked like the favourites to lift the trophy, especially with their captain and one of the greatest players of all time, Lionel Messi, making critical contributions to the team throughout the world cup. Fans all around the world have wanted him to lift this precious trophy, which will help him cement his legacy even further as one of the all-time greats.
Argentina beat the Netherlands (4-3) in the penalty shootout to advance to the semi-finals. After suffering a loss in the very first game of the tournament against Saudi Arabia, Messi and his men have not looked around. They have been a dominant force throughout the tournament and seem unstoppable at the moment.
Both sides look equally balanced entering the semi-finals today. We find out which player will continue to live this dream and which player will get knocked out of the tournament, sending them back home empty-handed. Argentina will face Croatia at 12:30 a.m. on December 14, 2022, in the first semi-final of the FIFA World Cup.
