IND vs ENG :India secures 434-run victory over England, takes 2-1 lead in 5-match series

Incredible victory for India in Rajkot! With a record-breaking win by 434 runs, it stands as India's largest Test triumph by runs and marks England's second-worst defeat in cricket history.

India defeated England by a massive 434 runs in the third Test, giving them a 2-1 lead in the series. This win surpassed India's previous largest victory of 372 runs against New Zealand in 2021. England, set a target of 557 runs, were all out for 122 in 39.4 overs on the fourth day. Ravindra Jadeja excelled for India, taking five wickets for 41 runs in 12.4 overs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal's sensational double hundred found harmonious coexistence with the stunning craftiness of five-wicket man Ravindra Jadeja as ruthless India demolished wasteful England by a record 434 runs on the fourth day of the third Test here on Sunday, according to PTI.

England resisted the temptation to play 'Bazball', but the Indian bowlers, led by Jadeja (5/41) were an irresistible force, chasing an improbable 557-run target and edging out the tourists for 122 in their second innings.
India is currently ahead in the five-match series, with a score of 2-1. England's batting performance in this match was their weakest so far, as none of their batters managed to score more than 20 runs, except for number 10 Mark Wood who scored 33. In contrast, India performed exceptionally well on the same pitch, scoring 445 and 430 for four declared in their two innings.

Yashasvi Jaiswal set up India's massive victory by remaining unbeaten on 214 in the second innings. Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja were the game's other centurions.

Sarfaraz Khan struck back-to-back fifties on his debut. The fourth Test will take place in Ranchi beginning February 23.

R Ashwin rejoined the Indian team in Rajkot

Earlier today, R Ashwin, the offspinner, returned to the Indian team in Rajkot for the fourth day of the third Test against England. He had departed the city after the second day of play due to personal reasons, causing him to miss the entire third day of action.

He returned to the field at the start of the third session, when England had reached 18 for 2 in their chase of 557.

"Everyone has an opinion or a perception of things, but the people in the dressing room really matter to us. We know things don't always work out exactly how you want them to. We are 2-1 down and have a chance to win 3-2.

"We will leave this game behind us. We have to win the next two to win the series and that's what we will be trying to do," Stokes said in the post-match presentation ceremony.

Stokes also praised Ben Duckett for scoring 153 runs from 151 balls in the first innings. Despite Duckett's brilliance, England lost a 126-run lead after a batting collapse on Day 3.

"Ben Duckett played an outstanding first inning, and that was the tone we wanted to set throughout the game. It was about seizing the opportunity to push the scoreboard and get as close to India's total as possible," Stokes explained.

Stokes also expressed a desire to bowl in the Rajkot Test despite his knee issues. "I wanted to go bowling yesterday, but it happened earlier than we had planned. "We wanted to continue the game," Stokes added.

England will look to make amends in the fourth Test, which begins on February 23 at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.
