In a significant update, the International Cricket Council (ICC) unveiled a revised schedule for the forthcoming ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 in India.

The much-anticipated showdown between India and Pakistan has experienced a shift in its fixture date. Originally slated for Sunday, October 15, in Ahmedabad, this clash has been moved a day earlier and is now scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 14, at the same venue.

As a result, the England-Afghanistan game that was originally scheduled on October 14 in Delhi will instead take place on October 15—24 hours later.

Additional alterations include Pakistan's match against Sri Lanka, which has been rescheduled from October 12 to October 10 in Hyderabad, and Australia's high-stakes battle against South Africa, moved back 24 hours to October 12 in Lucknow, from the initial date of October 13.

Likewise, New Zealand's face-off with Bangladesh, originally planned as a day game in Chennai on October 14, has been shifted to October 13 as a day-night encounter.

Minor Changes and Key Moments

The scheduling modification for England's match versus Bangladesh in Dharamsala was one of the tournament's notable alterations during the first round. This game, which was originally scheduled as a day-night encounter, will now start at 10:30 AM (local time).

As the league stage nears its culmination, three changes in scheduling have been introduced. The double-header matchups scheduled for November 12 will now take place a day earlier on November 11. At 10:30 am in Pune, Australia will play Pakistan; at 2:00 pm in Kolkata, England will play Pakistan.

In a final scheduling alteration, India's last league game against the Netherlands has been moved from November 11 to November 12. This day-night encounter will unfold in Bengaluru.

Grand Tournament Details

The ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023, the largest edition to date, will feature ten teams competing across ten prestigious venues. From October 5 to November 19, cricket enthusiasts will witness 48 matches played over the span of 46 days. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host both the tournament opener and the grand final, scheduled for November 19.
