The retirement of tennis player Roger Federer denotes the end of an era. Roger, the legendary player set an inspiration for future generations and Influenced the world with his talent. He announced his retirement on 15 September, stating The Laver Cup 2022 held from 23rd to 25th  September will be his last. On Twitter, he shared audio in which he described the reasons for his retirement, and the challenges he is facing from injuries and surgeries from many past years. Federer had a series of knee operations in 2016. He has not competed since last year’s Wimbledon when he lost to Hubert Hurkacz. Federer also said that his knee injury is not improving as he hoped.

Roger Federer was born on 8 August 1981 in Basel, Switzerland. He was ranked no. 1 by the Association Of Tennis Professionals for 310 weeks.

Federer played during an era when he conquered men’s tennis also with Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

He earned 103 Association of Tennis Professional singles titles and won 20 grand slam singles titles, 8 Wimbledon men’s singles titles, 1 French Open singles title, 5 US Open singles titles, and 6 Australian Open singles titles from 2003 to 2018.

He won his first major singles Wimbledon title at the age of 21 in the year 2003.

He outperformed Pet Sampras’s record of 14 major men’s titles at Wimbledon in the year 2009 at the age of 27.

In 2018 at the Australian Open Federer become the first one to win 20 major singles titles.

The Laver Cup of 2022 was his last but not least.
