The Indian women's compound archery team, which consists of the trio, Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Parneet Kaur, and Aditi Swami, clinched the gold medal for the third time in a row at the Stage 2 competition on Saturday, May 25, 2024,
The Trio won the championship match with a commanding six-point margin (232–226), defeating Hazal Burun, Ayse Bera Suzer, and Begum Yuva of Turkey.
This win gives Jyothi, Parneet, and world champion Aditi Swami a hat-trick of gold medals from the World Cup. They had already defeated Italy in the season's first World Cup Stage 1 in Shanghai last month, and they had finished the year with a gold at the Stage 4 competition in Paris.
Dominant Performance by the Trio in the Finals
Without dropping a set the entire final, the top-ranked Indian team with their best abilities, established a lead that Turkey found extremely difficult to overcome. Their lead remained steady at six points.
They started the first end with three X's, or arrows close to the center, and only gave up one point in the following three arrows, which allowed them to edge out their opponents ranked fifth by one point. They extended their lead by four points at the halfway point with five perfect 10s, two Xs and one 9, in the subsequent round of six arrows.
The Indian team won the match with a final end score of 58, complete with three 10s and one X, despite Turkey's effort in the penultimate round, which matched India's score of 58.
Mixed Team Wins Silver
Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Priyansh, who added to the glory of Indian archers, had to settle for silver in the compound mixed team final after a close match against Olivia Dean and Sawyer Sullivan of the USA.
Getting off to a fast start, scoring an almost flawless 39 out of 40 in the first end to take a two-point lead. But they found it difficult to stay steady as the American pair recovered, tying the score at 76 all by the halfway point.
The American duo then scored a perfect 40 on the third end to take a narrow lead of one point. In the end, Dean and Sullivan scored 39 to win the gold with a final score of 155-153, while Jyothi and Priyansh needed a perfect score to force a shoot-off but only managed 38.
