ISRO gives Pragyaan rover, Vikram lander 14 more days to awaken on moon

To make contact with Chandrayaan-3's Vikram lander and Pragyan rover, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) would have to wait an additional 14 days. The Chandrayaan-3 lander and rover will continue to be worked on by ISRO until the next moon sunset, which is scheduled for October 6.

The timing of the establishment of contact with the Chandrayaan-3 equipment is uncertain, according to ISRO Chief S. Somnath. In a statement, ISRO stated that while it has made attempts to get in touch with the Vikram lander and Pragyan rover in order to determine their wake-up status, no signals have been picked up as of yet. India became the first nation to land a spacecraft when its Chandrayaan-3 lander, named "Vikram," did so on August 23 at the unexplored lunar South Pole after a 40-day voyage into space. The rover Pragyan was securely parked and put into sleep mode on September 2 after travelling over 100 metres on the lunar surface from Shiv Shakti Point, the location of the lander Vikram's touchdown.
