The hearing in Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) leader Mahua Moitra's plea against her expulsion from Lok Sabha in a cash-for-query case has been adjourned by the Supreme Court. The new date for the hearing is set for Wednesday, January 3, 2024.
On December 11, Moitra had moved the Supreme Court against her expulsion from the Lok Sabha due to allegations of involvement in the 'cash-for-query' scandal.
Moitra was expelled on December 8 from the Lok Sabha after the House adopted the report of its Ethics Committee that held her guilty of accepting gifts and illegal gratification from a businessman to advance his interests
Moitra took her case to the Supreme Court on December 11, challenging her removal from the Lok Sabha due to 'cash-for-query' accusations. The Lok Sabha expelled Moitra on December 8, following the Ethics Committee's report which found her guilty of accepting gifts and illegal favors from a businessman to serve his interests.
