Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a euphoric assembly of visitors in Siliguri on Saturday, launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal, accusing it of neglecting the welfare of the poor and engaging in corrupt practices.
“Our government has assured not only free ration but also free healthcare for poor families. However, the corrupt and anti-poor TMC government here is not implementing the Ayushman scheme at all," stated PM Modi, highlighting the failures of the incumbent state government to ensure the welfare of its citizens.
Earlier on the day, the PM inaugurated projects of rail and road worth Rs 4500 crores in West Bengal. Modi reiterated the Central government's commitment to providing free ration and healthcare to disadvantaged families, highlighting the discrepancies in the implementation of welfare schemes by the TMC administration.

In a conversation with Vygr News on PM Modi's remarks on Sandeshkhali, Shishir Bajoria, Media Relations in charge of BJP West Bengal said, "Honorable Prime Minister Modi is very concerned about how West Bengal is ruling. I have not heard of any instance where a Central Investigation agency goes to carry out an investigation that is beaten black and blue and state police don't even take the phone calls, let alone come for their protection. The police were nowhere to be seen. This shows the law and order situation in West Bengal. This is the rule of the ruler. The state is going back and back."
Citing the stay order and questioning the role of police, Bajoria from Siliguri said, "The country has not seen what Sandeshkhali has seen."

On Saturday, PM Modi alleged that the TMC government distributed 25 lakh fake job cards to benefit its allies, diverting funds meant for the poor to its cronies. He accused TMC leaders of exploiting vulnerable communities, including women, Dalits, tribals, and residents of Sandeshkhali, for their own gains, thereby highlighting the moral bankruptcy of the ruling party.
During his public address to Siliguri, Modi emphasized the BJP's commitment to addressing the concerns of the Gorkha community. He reiterated the BJP's pledge to implement the development of North Bengal, focusing on sectors such as tea, tourism, and timber, with infrastructure projects underway to support these industries.
"The BJP has a clear roadmap for the development of North Bengal," said PM Modi, outlining the party's vision for economic growth and prosperity in the region.
