Despite the political chaos in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar won the Assembly floor test on Monday, which was a dramatic turn of events. This strengthened his position even more. As the trust vote, a crucial manifestation of support for Kumar's administration, was taking place, Tejashwi Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) staged a walkout. Through the 243-member Bihar Assembly, Kumar's government, which is now part of the NDA bloc, got 129 votes in favour.

Opposition absence
The opposition's absence during the voting process and their walkout as Kumar addressed the Assembly served to highlight the contentious nature of the political environment. During his speech, Nitish Kumar made harsh criticisms of the RJD. He said that the party was trying to take credit for projects that he led. Against the previous RJD-led governments, he accused them of cheating and bad management and promised to look into their actions.
Mahagathbandhan to the NDA coalition
An important change in Bihar's politics happened when the government decided to switch its support from the Mahagathbandhan to the NDA coalition earlier in January. Politics in the state changed when Nitish Kumar changed things around until he was able to form a new government with the help of the BJP. Bihar's political currents are strong and change quickly. His resignation as chief minister on January 28 and the following trust vote showed this.
The results of the trust vote made Nitish Kumar's situation even stronger. He now has the power to lead the state through its cases and problems. Speaker of the Bihar Assembly and a leader of the RJD, Awadh Bihari Choudhary, was fired because of a move by BJP MLA Nandkishore Yadav. Making things even more political, this made things even more dramatic.
BJP-led NDA alliance
Because of the ongoing political unrest, Governor Rajendra Arlekar stressed that the government was committed to upholding the rule of law. This showed what the administration's top goals were. This is an example of how alliances and goals shape Bihar's political landscape: The BJP-led NDA alliance supported Nitish Kumar's return to power.
The ninth time Nitish Kumar takes over as leader, his government has the difficult job of dealing with all of Bihar's problems, including those related to law and order, government, and growth. It was nice to have a break after the trust vote, but in the days to come, people will be paying more attention to government and accountability.
