Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto is set to embark on a State visit to India from December 4-6, following an invitation from President Droupadi Murmu. Joining him will be a delegation of high-ranking officials. This visit marks Ruto's inaugural trip to India in his current role.
While in India, Ruto is scheduled to meet President Murmu. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has announced that he will receive a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan on December 5.
President Murmu will be hosting a State Banquet to honour President Ruto. The Kenyan President will also have in-depth discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Ruto will also participate in a business and investment event in New Delhi.
After more than six years, Kenya's President is paying a visit to India, aiming to enhance and energize the relationship between the two nations. According to the official statement, this visit is anticipated to strengthen bilateral ties. President William Ruto of Kenya expressed his admiration for the excellent relationship between his country and India, referring to it as "fantastic." He also extended his gratitude to PM Modi for ensuring that the African Union (AU) secures a permanent membership in the G20.
“India has made a very huge contribution. We want to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making sure that Africa became a permanent member of the G20 during his presidency. And we will have further conversations with him,” the Kenyan President told ANI. “We have a fantastic bilateral relationship and it is my intention that we are going to build on that relationship during my visit to India later…,” he added.
There are 55 member states located in Africa that make up the continental union known as the African Union. In June of this year, PM Modi suggested that the African Union be included in the G20 grouping.
During the commencement of the 18th G20 Leaders' Summit, Prime Minister Modi extended an invitation to the African Union, with Chairperson Azali Assoumani representing, to join the G20 leaders as a permanent member. According to The Print, “With everyone’s approval, I request the AU head to take his seat as a permanent G20 member,” Modi said in his address.
