Centre bans Masarat Alam led 'Muslim League' for 5 yrs in Jammu Kashmir

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Home Affairs imposed a five-year ban on a faction of Muslim League Jammu Kashmir, which is led by separatist leader Masarat Alam Bhat. This action was taken under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

 

Home Minister Amit Shah has made it clear that individuals who oppose the "unity, sovereignty, and integrity of the nation" will face consequences and will not be spared

As per the official notification from MHA, the MLJK-MA, led by Masarat Alam Bhat, “is known for its anti-India and pro-Pakistan propaganda.” It further stated the objective of the faction was to “get the freedom of Jammu and Kashmir from India” and “realise its merger with Pakistan and establish Islamic State in Jammu and Kashmir.”

The notification also mentioned that  the members of the faction “have been indulging in the secessionist activities in Jammu and Kashmir.”

Home Minister Amit Shah said, In a post on X, “This organization and its members are involved in anti-national and secessionist activities in J&K supporting terrorist activities and inciting people to establish Islamic rule in J&K.
