For the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is planning to give its allies important places in many states, according to sources. It is believed that the BJP will give its partners in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) six seats in Uttar Pradesh, three seats in Assam, and one seat in Jharkhand. Talks to finish seat-sharing plans for Bihar and Maharashtra are still going on, say sources. The Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting began at 11:30 p.m. on Thursday and ended at 4 a.m. on Friday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in charge of the project. The major objective was to finalise the initial list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in April and May.
Allotment in Uttar Pradesh
The Apna Dal (Soneylal) and the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) are likely to get two seats each in Uttar Pradesh. The NISHAD party and the Om Prakash Rajbhar-led Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) are likely to get one seat each.
Assam's and Jharkhand's Allotments
One seat could go to the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL), and two seats could go to the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP). In Jharkhand, the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), which is a supporter of the NDA, may be given a place.
Bihar and Maharashtra are still in talks
In Bihar, talks on seat-sharing plans have not yet begun with partners such as the JDU, LJP, Rashtriya Lok Morcha, and Hindustani Awam Morcha. In Maharashtra, talks with different groups have also not yet begun.
Prospects in Haryana
Sources in the Haryana BJP say that the party could run for all 10 Lok Sabha seats in the state. BJP head JP Nadda, Union ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, and leaders from many states were at the late-night meeting.
The BJP carefully planned how to assign seats because it wants to have a strong and united front for the upcoming elections.
