In recent Assembly elections in 5 states, The Bharatiya Janata Party secured a massive victory, winning elections in 3 out of 5 States of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. Indian National Congress secured a victory in only 1 state, Telangana and Zoram People’s movement won in Mizoram. After weeks of deliberations, with many names in the CM race in all three states. BJP has finally named the new CMs of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
On Monday, BJP announced Madhya Pradesh's new Chief, Ujjain South MLA Mohan Yadav, a surprise pick, succeeding Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who served as Madhya Pradesh’s CM for 16 years.
The decision was made at a BJP legislature party meeting in Bhopal, in the presence of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, OBC Morcha head K Laxman, and Secretary Asha Lakra as observers.
Mohan Yadav, who previously held the position of Higher Education Minister in Shivraj Singh Chouhan's government, started his political career by winning his first MLA election in 2013. He was then re-elected in the 2018 Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly election. His appointment reflects BJP's commitment to OBC leaders in the state. Previous Chief Ministers Uma Bharti, Babulal Gaur, and Shivraj Chouhan also hail from the OBC category.
Following his election Mohan Yadav humbly expressed, It is only the BJP party which can give such a big responsibility to a small worker. I thank the state leadership and the central leadership... I will take forward the development works of PM Modi."
Following the announcement, former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan submitted his resignation as the MP Chief Minister, expressing "heartiest congratulations" to Mohan Yadav on his selection as the upcoming chief minister.

MP BJP President VD Sharma expressed approval, stating that the Central leadership made the right decision in selecting Mohan Yadav as the next chief minister. Sharma congratulated Yadav, emphasising that the party chose a dedicated and capable worker as the legislature party leader.
Rajendra Shukla from Rewa constituency and Jagdish Devda from Mandsaur have been appointed as the new Deputy Chief Ministers. Additionally, Narendra Tomar has been elected as the Speaker of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly.
In the recent 2023 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, Mohan Yadav secured his position in the Ujjain South constituency by winning with a margin of 12,941 votes against Congress candidate Chetan Premnarayan Yadav. This triumph marked his third consecutive term as an MLA, garnering 95,699 votes. Recognized as a BJP stronghold since 2003, the Ujjain South constituency, represented by Mohan Yadav from the OBC category , is crucial for the party to connect with the OBC community, constituting over half of the state's electorate.
Previously on Sunday, BJP appointed Former Union minister Vishnu Deo Sai as the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, under the observance of Union ministers Arjun Munda, Sarbananda Sonowal, and BJP general secretary Dushyant Gautam. All elected MLAs and the former chief minister of the state, Raman Singh were present too in the meeting.

The Kunkuri MLA, a senior tribal leader, has served as a four-time MP and a three-time MLA from Jashpur, making him a well-established and popular figure in Chhattisgarh politics.
Vijay Sharma and Arun Sao are named as deputy chief ministers and Raman Singh as the speaker of Chhattisgarh.
Notably, In the December 3 results, the BJP secured 54 out of 90 seats in Chhattisgarh, including 17 of the 29 tribal seats. The selection of a tribal chief minister reflects the BJP's strategy to gain favour in identity politics.
Sai will be sworn in on December 13 in Raipur.
