Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' arrived in Bihar on Monday, a day after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar dumped the RJD-led 'Mahagathbandhan' government in the state and joined the old ally NDA.

Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to address a public meeting in Kishanganj on Tuesday, followed by a rally in Purnea and another rally in Katihar. The Yatra, which began in Manipur on January 14, crossed into West Bengal from Assam on Thursday morning. Gandhi returned to New Delhi during a break. The Yatra is set to re-enter West Bengal on January 31 through Malda and exit the state on February 1. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has requested Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's assistance in ensuring the smooth execution of the program.
According to PTI, the State Congress president Akhilesh Prasad Singh stated that Rahul Gandhi is expected to arrive in Bihar "by January 27-28" and "cover all districts falling in Seemanchal," the state's highly populated and economically disadvantaged area near the borders with West Bengal, Nepal, and Bangladesh.
The political scenario in Bihar was marred when Nitish Kumar, the current state Chief Minister and President of the Janata Dal (United) (JDU), left the Mahagathbandhan government after 18 months. He broke all ties with the RJD and returned to the BJP-led NDA, which marked his fourth crossover between coalitions since 2013. The day after Nitish Kumar's return to the BJP-led NDA. Rahul's Bihar tour comes a day after the Congress was left high and dry with former ally Nitish Kumar.

Meanwhile, the state Congress leaders have invited the party's alliance partners in Bihar, including RJD President Lalu Prasad and CPI(ML)-L General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, to a rally in Purnea.
The Yatra will cover 6,713 kilometres over 67 days, passing through 110 districts in 15 states. It is scheduled to conclude in Mumbai on March 20 or 21.
