Swachhata hi seva: Nationwide cleanliness drive launched today

The country is actively engaging in a one-hour cleanliness drive today, responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call. In anticipation of Gandhi Jayanti, PM Modi encouraged citizens to participate in 'Shramdaan,' a cleanliness initiative under the Swachh Bharat campaign, at 10 am.

Last week, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal for "One hour of shramdaan for swachhata," the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs announced a nationwide cleanliness drive scheduled for October 1.

During the 105th episode of Mann ki Baat earlier this month, PM Modi had urged all citizens to dedicate "One hour of shramdaan for swachhata" on October 1, considering it a tribute ('swachhanjali') to Mahatma Gandhi on the eve of his birth anniversary.
