Hyderabad Zoo welcomes Capuchin Monkeys for 60th anniversary celebration

After a three-decade absence, the rare and critically endangered Capuchin monkeys are making a grand return to Nehru Zoological Park in Bahadurpura, offering visitors a captivating sight. This exciting reintroduction of two Central and South American natives is part of the zoo's Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

A. Indrakaran Reddy, the Minister for Environment, Forests, and Science and Technology, had the honour of releasing these precious creatures into their designated space on a memorable Friday.

During this remarkable event, Minister Indrakaran Reddy also introduced two adorable white tiger cubs to an enclosure, endowing them with the names 'Shiv' and 'Parvati.' Expressing his vision, he highlighted ongoing efforts to transform the zoo into a world-class park teeming with diverse biodiversity.

The celebration continued with the launch of integrated online ticketing services, the unveiling of a diamond jubilee pylon, the inauguration of a central fountain, and the introduction of a special logo at the zoo park's entrance. Adding an eco-friendly touch to the festivities, the Minister flagged off electric bicycles and an electric road train, generously provided by a private company as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative. The Minister himself enjoyed a ride on one of these bicycles as he explored the zoo.

Recognizing talent and dedication, Minister Indrakaran Reddy awarded prizes to students who excelled in various competitions held in honour of the diamond jubilee celebrations. Furthermore, he extended his heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated zoo staff from various departments and acknowledged the invaluable support received from organizations like SBI and other companies and schools through their generous donations.
