A priceless work of art that was found covered in bird droppings in a shed in upstate New York is anticipated to sell for up to $3 million at a Sotheby's auction the following week. The painting was recognised as a live study from the 17th century by renowned painter Anthony van Dyck.
A Flemish Baroque painter named Anthony van Dyck was born in Antwerp in 1599. His pictures, notably those of the English royal family and court, are what he is best known for. Van Dyck traveled to Italy as a young man, where he was influenced by the works of Caravaggio and other Italian masters.
