The introduction of the Tag Heuer Carrera Plasma is significant for the watch brand, as it features coloured lab-grown diamonds for the first time. Tag Heuer has always been at the forefront of incorporating modern and innovative technologies in its watches, which makes the use of lab-grown diamonds in its designs a natural choice. The newly launched Tag Heuer Carrera Plasma at Watches & Wonders Geneva 2023 showcases pink and white coloured lab-grown diamonds, adding a feminine touch to this timeless piece.

Crafted from solid 18k white gold, the TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma Diamant d'Avant-Garde has a diameter of 36mm and a black alligator leather strap, complemented by a white gold pin buckle. The case of this time-and-date version has a high-polished finish and does not feature any diamonds, unlike the 44mm Chronograph Tourbillon model unveiled at Watches & Wonders Geneva 2023. However, the signature solid diamond winding crown of the Carrera Plasma series is present, featuring a large 1.3-carat lab-grown pink diamond and the TAG Heuer logo at the 3 o'clock position.

To produce the lab-grown pink diamonds for the TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma Diamant d'Avant-Garde 36mm, a Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) technique is employed to introduce minor irregularities during the growth process. This method ensures that the diamonds are uniformly coloured throughout the material, without the need for any additional treatment. Creating such a precisely-controlled environment, where the desired colour can be consistently replicated in each batch, requires a high level of technical proficiency.
