National Youth Day 2023 - The Dreams of India's Youth

National Youth Day is celebrated on January 12th every year in India to mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

Swami Vivekananda was a  philosopher, spiritual leader, and a key figure in the introduction of Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world.

He was the chief disciple of the 19th century saint Ramakrishna and the founder of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission.

National Youth Day is celebrated across India with various programs and events such as seminars, lectures, and competitions. The day is also celebrated in schools, colleges, and universities to inspire the youth to inculcate the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. On this day the President, Prime Minister, and other political leaders pay their respects to Swami Vivekananda and address the nation.

The government also awards the National Youth Awards to young people who have made outstanding contributions in various fields. The day also marks a day to celebrate the spirit of youth and to encourage them to actively participate in nation-building.

With India looking to grow in the coming year, the youth has also spoken. 

On National Youth Day 2023, Indian youth would like to see 10 things: 

1. Increased opportunities for education and employment. 

2. Greater access to youth-centric health services. 

3. More resources and support for entrepreneurship. 

4. Involvement in national and international policy-making. 

5. Increased representation in government and institutions. 

6. Improved access to social and digital media. 

7. Access to a wide range of cultural and recreational activities. 

8. Improved access to quality and affordable housing. 

9. More investment in mental health and well-being. 

10. Increased focus on environmental sustainability.
