Expensive Butterfingers: Woman breaks 35 lac worth of Artwork at US Art Fair

During the VIP preview of a contemporary art fair at Art Wynwood in Miami, United States, a collector accidentally smashed a shiny blue sculpture from the renowned artist Jeff Koons' famous "balloon dog" series.

The sculpture, which was estimated to be worth $42,000 or Rs 35 lakh, was shattered into thousands of pieces when a visitor mistook it for performance art or a staged stunt.

The "Balloon Dog" series is a collection of stainless steel sculptures created by the American artist Jeff Koons. The series consists of five sculptures, each representing a different balloon dog in a different colour: blue, magenta, yellow, orange, and red.

The sculptures are based on balloon animals that are often created by street performers and entertainers. Koons has said that he was drawn to the balloon dog as a subject because of its universal appeal and the way it can be created by anyone with a few twists and turns.

Koons created the first "Balloon Dog" sculpture in 1994, and the series has since become one of his most well-known and iconic works. The sculptures are made of mirror-polished stainless steel, which gives them a highly reflective surface and a sense of weightlessness and buoyancy, similar to an actual balloon. The sculptures are also quite large, with the largest one standing over 10 feet tall and weighing over a ton.

The "Balloon Dog" series has been displayed in museums and galleries around the world, including the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. The sculptures have also been sold at auction for millions of dollars, making Koons one of the most expensive living artists.
