Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and the beginning of a new Islamic year, namaz offered across country

Muslims in India and across the world celebrated the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday after the sighting of the moon was confirmed. This marks the end of the month-long fasting period of Ramadan during which Muslims abstain from food and drink from sunrise to sunset, and engage in acts of charity and spiritual reflection. Devotees offered mass prayers in mosques across India, following the prayer timings in different regions. Muslims in the national capital gathered at the Jama Masjid to offer their prayers at 6:09 AM, according to the scheduled prayer timing for Eid-ul-Fitr.

The sighting of the moon is crucial for ending the month-long Ramadan fast and celebrating Eid. Usually, Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated on different days across various regions with a one-day difference.

Muslims observe several customs and traditions during Eid-ul-Fitr. They wear new clothes, offer alms to the poor, distribute sweets, and enjoy traditional dishes. Eidi, which is known as a gift of money, is given to children by their elders during Eid-ul-Fitr. Muslims across the world celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with early morning prayers followed by a sermon. In Palestine, Muslims prayed in front of the Al-Aqsa mosque, while the Aya Sofia mosque courtyard in Istanbul was packed with visitors from various regions. In areas affected by the ongoing civil war in Sudan, the army announced a three-day ceasefire, allowing citizens to observe Eid al-Fitr and ensuring the flow of essential humanitarian services.
