A 15-year-old pregnant victim of sexual exploitation watched videos on YouTube to educate herself and gave birth to her own child, which she then killed. According to the police, the girl, who was home alone at delivery, strangled the infant with a belt so that the baby's cries wouldn't wake up the neighbours.
The girl, a Nagpur ninth-grade student, had allegedly been raped by a stranger she met through Instagram chat.
While waiting for a post-mortem report on the actual cause of death, the police have registered an offence of rape under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and a case of accidental death for the fetus. The girl, according to reports, hid the fetus's body in a box and recovered when her mother made her explain her condition. When the mother returned from work, she inquired about her health condition. A police official told the media that the girl told her story and was taken to the hospital. According to the police, the girl met the man through a social media chat. He then met her at a friend's house and sexually exploited her after forcing her to drink alcohol.
