Follow the easy steps to learn a new process for the Employee Provident Fund

New instructions on how to update EPF account information were recently released by the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). The EPFO provided a new standard operating procedure in the guidelines to update EPF members' name and birthdate information. The SOPs allow for simple updating of EPF member information, reducing the likelihood of claim rejections. The recommendations were released because there are more recorded instances of fraud, and the new procedure can help to prevent this.

The EPFO circular states that it has been seen that uncontrolled and non-standardized practices have caused member identities to be changed in some situations, which has resulted in impersonation and fraud. The EPF member will now be able to edit 11 profile-related parameters thanks to the new rules. Which are: Name, gender, and birthdate are all required. Name of the father, Relationship. Married. Date of Joining. Justification for Leaving. Date of Leaving. Nationality Aadhaar number.

These variations in the 11 parameters are divided into minor and significant variations. Nevertheless, regardless of how significant the change is to the profile of the EPF account holder, documentary verification is required.

At least two documents must be presented from the list on the stipulated list for minor modifications to the EPF account. Three documents will be required in the event of significant changes.

According to the most recent circular from the EPFO, the owner of an EPF account must use the Member Sewa site to apply to change their profile information. It is significant to note that the employer will also need to confirm any changes made by the EPF member to their account.

-Visit the Member Sewa portal first, then sign in with your Universal Account Number (UAN) and password.

-After that, select the Joint Declaration (JD) tab. The cellphone number associated with UIDAI will receive an OTP.

-A joint declaration form will then show up on the screen when you enter the OTP.

-Then, you must provide the necessary information together with the supporting documents listed in the list of requirements.
