Gold hit new highs in Tuesday night trading, with MCX futures surpassing Rs61,000/10 grams for the first time. The record was reached during the evening session on MCX, which lasted from 5:00 pm to 11:30 pm/11:55 pm, with the exchange closing for morning trading for Mahavir Jayanti.
Before the end of Tuesday's session, June gold futures ended at Rs 60,984, up Rs 970, or 1.62 per cent, from their previous high of Rs 61,145 per 10 grams. Silver futures, on the other hand, reached their second-highest-ever level of Rs 74,700 per kg before ending the day at Rs 74,650, up Rs 2,570 or 3.57 per cent.
