A tornado that tore through southeast Missouri claimed at least five lives, according to authorities.
According to officials, the twister made landfall in Bollinger County just before 4:00 (10:00 GMT) on Wednesday. People who came out to inspect the damage discovered homes with roofs torn off and trees that had fallen on cars. Search and rescue operations are ongoing.
The NWS confirmed that estimated peak winds reached 130mph. It is estimated to have travelled 15 to 20 miles in a span of just 15 minutes.
