According to the Russian defence ministry, a Russian warplane inadvertently launched a weapon into the city of Belgorod, which is close to Ukraine, resulting in an explosion and building damage.Local authorities in the city, which is just across the border with Ukraine, reported a significant blast late on Thursday.

The state of emergency was announced by Vyacheslav Gladkov, the regional governor of Belgorod, after he posted on Telegram that one of the main streets had a 20-meter (65-foot) broad crater. He claimed that four cars and four apartment buildings had been damaged.
