Rumors about Putin's ill health on social media prompts Kremlin to reject speculation...

 

On Tuesday, the Kremlin denied rumors regarding President Vladimir Putin's health and claimed that he was in good health.

In a routine call with reporters, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also refuted claims that the president was utilizing body doubles, labeling them as an "absurd hoax".

When questioned about a baseless story by a Russian Telegram channel, picked up by the Western media, that the president suffered a catastrophic health emergency on Sunday evening, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov responded, "Everything is good with him, this is absolutely Fake.

When asked again about Putin's body doubles, the spokesman laughed and said that he didn't.

On October 7, Putin, a longtime "action man" and judo lover, turned 71. He keeps a busy schedule of meetings and public engagements, many of which are broadcast on television.

Putin dismissed long-running rumors that he employs body doubles in a 2020 interview, however, he acknowledged that he had been.

Last week, he traveled to China as part of his recent itinerary, stopping in two Russian towns on the way back.

During the briefing on Tuesday, Peskov discussed the conflict in Ukraine and said that Russia was unconcerned by the prospect of another ten years of Western sanctions.

The spokesperson also noted that Russia continues to support the establishment of a Palestinian state and reiterated the Kremlin's appeal for an immediate truce in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.
