A new consulate would be built in Brisbane, Australia, as per Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement on Tuesday, at a community event in Sydney.
PM Modi claims that this action is intended to satisfy a long-standing request of the Indian community in Australia.
At Sydney's Qudos Bank Arena, where the stadium was packed, PM Modi made the announcement. Over 21,000 individuals from all over Australia attended the community event. Anthony Albanese, the prime minister of Australia, also attended the occasion.
"An absolute delight connecting with the Indian diaspora at a community program," Modi said.
As he welcomed Modi to the community function, Australian Prime Minister Albanese made an announcement declaring Harris Park as "Little India."
Modi commended his Australian colleague for helping him lay the foundation stone for the Sydney district known as "Little India. The Indian community in Western Sydney gathers in Harris Park to celebrate holidays and occasions like Diwali and Australia Day.
PM Modi further thanked PM Albanese by stating, "Thank you my friend Anthony".
He further added and said, "I thank the premier of New South Wales, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the City of Parramatta, and Councilors for this special honor."
"After that, it was 3Ds.. Democracy, Diaspora, and Dosti! Then it became 3Es, it was all about Energy, Economy, and Education. But the truth is that the actual depth of the relation between India and Australia transcends these C, D, E..." Modi said.
"The strongest and biggest foundations of this relation actually are mutual trust and mutual respect, and the real reason behind this is Indian diaspora," he added.
