The National Public Radio (NPR) has announced that it will no longer publish on its official Twitter account in protest of the word employed by the Elon Musk-led platform, which implies government involvement in its editorial content. On Wednesday, the US-based organisation stated that the social media business denied its repeated requests to remove the erroneous designation "state-affiliated media," which has since been altered to "government-funded media."
According to NPR, the title does not correctly characterise its public media governance structure. "If we kept tweeting, every post would have that misleading label," NPR explained. The BBC, Britain's national broadcaster, has also objected to the label, calling it deceptive. Elon Musk has said that the corporation is attempting to be "accurate" and is considering changing the label.NPR claimed that it will continue to use other social media sites but that it is thinking about adding new and upcoming third-party networks to its list.
