Andi Owen, the CEO of MillerKnoll, a high-end office furniture company, has been the subject of criticism after a video of her addressing employees about a lack of financial bonuses went viral on social media. During the 1 minute, 21-second clip, which was part of an online meeting with workers, Owen urged employees to focus on hitting the company's financial goals rather than asking about bonuses.
She received criticism for her large compensation package, which included a $1.1 million salary and $3.9 million in stock awards and other compensation. Sales at MillerKnoll have declined recently, with orders down 19%, due to a slower economy and reduced demand for expensive office furniture. Although Owen's compensation decreased last year, her $4.9 million pay package is significantly higher than the average pay of a sales executive at the company, which is $150,000 according to Glassdoor.
